A family business
Exploring technology has been my life's passion. I built my first computer at five years old. Command line, no menus; it's hard to imagine how different things were back then. I had some help: my dad was a roboticist and my uncle worked at our city's supercomputing center. I was writing websites and living in a Linux shell by nine, fixing people's home computers by thirteen, and I started my own IT company at twenty-one.
My father always wanted to start his own company. He talked about it all the time, but it's so hard to go out on your own when you have two young kids and have to say goodbye to your steady paycheck. After he passed away, I opened Tech Direct Services in his memory. Everything we still do traces back to him, and to my uncle.
Today, my son Joey and I do this together. Almost all of our customers have been with us for over ten years, and we still have nearly all of the originals from the very beginning.
